Swatch & O'Neill proudly present the BIG MOUNTAIN PRO 2008. The second edition of the Swatch O'Neill Big Mountain Pro will see 24 of the world's best snowboarders and skiers coming together for a competition like no other. Free to roam the European Alps on a search for optimum conditions, the event will embark on a 8 day journey to crown the best freerider. best snowboarders and skiers coming together

Sunday 24th Feb
11.00 Meeting at "Gite la Montagne" in Chamonix
12.00 Move to Parking du Grepon (close du Aiguille du Midi cable-car start)
13.00 Meeting at Aiguille du Midi cable-car start
13.20 Cable-car to Aiguille du Midi
14.00-15.30 Ski Vallee Blanche to Montenvers hotel (NB: not part of the competition, optional for riders, media and guests - option to shoot some video/photos)
16.00 Last train to Montenvers hotel (for riders or others not skiing Vallee Blanche)
16.00-18.00 Gluhwein at Montenvers hotel
16.30-17.30 Backcountry Freestyle session (shaped by Douds Charlet)
18.30-19.00 Opening Ceremony at Montenvers hotel
19.00-22.00 Dinner at Montenvers hotel
22.00 train down to Chamonix
22.30 transfer to "Gite la Montagne"
Monday 25th Feb
Contest OR Freeski in the Chamonix region
19.00 Dinner in Chamonix (place tbc)
23.00 Night in "Gite la Montagne" in Chamonix
Tuesday 26th Feb-Saturday 1st March
Move to good locations...
Sunday 2nd March
Bus back to Chamonix (for those who need it).
NB: Sunday 2nd is a reserve day in case we need it. Bus back to Chamonix would then take place on Monday 3rd March.
2. GENERAL INFO
1. In some places, we will sleep in dormitories style accommodation - taking a SLEEPING BAG may be a good idea.
2. Transport, accommodation, breakfast, dinner, and lunch on contest days is provided by the organization.
3. Prize-money: 1st USD 10,000, 2nd USD 6,000, 3rd USD 4,000, 4th-13th USD 2,000.
4. Riders wear the event bib on all days.
5. Pieps (a shovel and a probe in backpack), Back protection and helmets are mandatory on contest days.
PRIZEMONEY PAYMENTS
All prizemoney will be paid by bank transfer.
No exceptions will be made.
